Director: The Glue Society   Client: Sydney Story Factory

The Sydney Story Factory is a not-for-profit creative writing centre for young people, which opened in July 2012. It aims to ignite creativity in every child by offering free help from volunteer tutors to write all kinds of stories. The writing centre is accessed through a themed entrance and gift shop. We produced, conceptualised, designed and constructed the space with The Glue Society, architects from LAVA, production staff, and building specialists. The Glue Society developed the brand identity, The Martian Embassy – a space that has been taken over by creatures from Mars. We created and sourced over 30 ‘Made on Mars’ gift products to sell in store and other Martian decor from the Red Planet. We then architecturally designed a space with a truly Martian look and feel, split into an embassy at the front, gift shop in the middle and the writing centre in the back. The launch received national media attention across television, radio, newspaper, and online. The Martian Embassy is found at 176 Redfern Street, Redfern, Sydney, Australia.
